Daniel in the Lions' Den

Updated: Sep 22, 2022

Daniel lived a long time ago in a place called Babylon. Israel was his home, but he had been captured and taken to Babylon to work for the king. He loved God and obeyed Him, and God helped him do great things that no one else could do.

King Darius liked Daniel, but there were some other leaders who were jealous of him. Let’s see what happened…

What do you think you would do if it was suddenly illegal to pray to God? Would you still do it? Daniel did! Just like he had always done, Daniel prayed to God three times a day. And he didn’t go hide somewhere to do it secretly. He didn’t care if everyone saw him! He knew God was the one who had made him smart and successful in the first place. He was still going to worship God and pray to Him, even if he could get in trouble for it. Even if the punishment was to be thrown into a den of lions!

Lions are dangerous animals! They could easily have killed Daniel, but God protected him! He sent an angel to keep the lions’ mouths closed so they wouldn’t attack Daniel. In the morning, he didn’t even have a scratch on him! God showed King Darius and all the people how good and powerful He is. There are times when other people might tell us we shouldn’t follow God or pray to Him. But it’s important to keep serving Him and praying to Him even if the world around us tells us not to.

Romans 8:28 in your Trailbook or Bible says that no matter what you’re going through, you can be sure that God will put everything together in a way that is good. Even if it seems scary, you can trust that God is with you, and His plan is always the best one!
