King Josiah

Can you imagine having a President of the United States who was 8 years old? Sounds crazy, but Josiah was only 8 years old when he became the king of Judah. That’s amazing, right? But God can use us even when we’re young!

Josiah’s father, Amon, and grandfather, Manasseh, had turned against God and followed the false gods of the other nations. His great-grandfather Hezekiah had torn down all the places where people had worshiped those false gods, but Manasseh and Amon rebuilt them. They also took the Temple, where God was worshiped, and turned it into a place where the false gods were worshiped instead.

When Josiah became king, he wanted to follow God. He took down all the places where false gods were worshiped, just like Hezekiah had done. He also hired workers to repair the Temple and make it a place where the people would worship God again. Check out what happened.

The people of Judah had turned away from God and completely forgotten all the things He had told them to do. They were even worshiping false gods. But when Josiah read God’s law to them and told them they needed to worship Him and follow His law, they agreed. They turned back to God and asked Him to forgive them for turning away from Him.

No matter how far we’ve gone away from God, He always wants us to come back to Him, because He loves us!
