What About It?
God is so creative and so powerful, He created the entire universe just by speaking! Then He created the first man and woman, and the Trailbook (Bible) tells us He created people in His image. That means we have the ability to be creative, and make choices, and love other people. God made us like this so we would choose to love Him and have a relationship with Him. Adam and Eve (the first people) got to live with God perfectly - walking and talking with Him in His perfect world, which He made for them and for His good plan.
God gave Adam and Eve one rule. They were not allowed to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God gave them a choice to obey, or choose their own way instead. Sadly, they chose their own way and disobeyed. They ate the fruit God had told them not to eat. When they did, sin and suffering and death entered the perfect world that God created.
So how does that affect you? Well, Romans 5:12 in your Trailbook (Bible) says, “When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned.”
If this was the end of the story that would be really depressing, but the story does not end with this! God had a plan, and it was a good plan. One day a rescuer would come to bring people and God back together. Romans 5:17 says, “For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.”
Jesus died in our place and paid the penalty for our sin so we could be made new and be close to God again! Then he defeated death by coming back to life three days later! Check out the video below to see a good explanation of this.
My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
