What About It?
When Joshua became the leader of Israel, God Himself spoke to Joshua. The Lord said to Joshua: “Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Important: Notice the hope of Joshua and Israel wasn’t their strength, but God who would be with them!
While preparing to fight Jericho, Joshua met an angel of God. The angel wasn’t on Joshua’s side or Jericho’s side. He was on God’s side! Now the question Joshua, was whose side was he on? Jericho’s side? His own side? Or God’s side?
God gave Joshua very precise instructions on how to defeat Jericho. And it is NOT the way you would expect. If you haven't watched the video yet, you should definitely watch it to see what happened! Joshua defeated Jericho! Except it wasn’t Joshua. He really didn’t do anything except follow God. And it wasn’t Israel either. God won this battle. God’s team is the BEST and really the only team you want to be on.
1.) The first video talked about some amazing things God did for the people of Israel.
What were some of them?
2.) Joshua was one of the twelve spies who went to check out the land God said He was
giving to the Israelites. Most of them were afraid of the people who already lived there. Was
Joshua afraid? Why or why not?
3.) Whose side was the angel on?
4.) How did Joshua win the Battle of Jericho?
5.) Was it really Joshua who won? Who was it?

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
